1. “プチペット”とは何ですか？　ハワイではオパエ’ウラと呼ばれ、この驚くべきエビはハワイでしか見つけることができません。成長後の最大サイズは約１５ミリで、学名を”Halocaridina Rubra＝ハロカリディナ・ルブラ”といいます。他の一般的な名前は”ハワイ火山エビ“、”ハワイ赤エビ“、”アンキアプール“などです。日本では”スカーレット“、”ピクシー“、”ホロホロ“などと呼ばれています。

What is “PUCHIPETTO”? In Hawaii, it is called Opae‘ula. Amazing shrimp found only in Hawaii. The largest it grows is 1.5cm. Scientific name is “Halocaridina Rubra”. Other common names are “Hawaiian Volcano Shrimp”, “Micro-Lobster”, “Hawaiian Red Shrimp” and “Anchialine Shrimp”. In Japan, it is called; “Pixie Shrimp”, “Scarlet Shrimp” or “HoloHolo Shrimp”. When combined with the proper materials that replicate their natural habitat, it creates a Desktop Ecosystem. ALL ECOSYSTEM SHRIMPS ARE FROM HAWAII.

2. 自然の生息地はどこですか？　オパエ‘ウラはハワイのアンキアプールと呼ばれる汽水（低塩分水）プールに生息します。アンキアプールは、淡水湖、海などの広い地域と接続せず、火山洞窟や岩の割れ目にあります。大半のオパエ’ウラは海水と淡水とが混じりあう地下に生息しています。またアンキアプールは海岸や火山の近くで発見されています。

Where do they naturally live? They are found in Anchialine Ponds. It is a natural pond that is not connected on the surface to any large body of water (Land lock). Majority of their lives is spent subterranean in volcanic caves and crevices. The ponds water is fed by underground connections to the ocean and fresh water resources. Anchialine Ponds/Pools are usually found between the ocean and volcano. Hawaiian Anchialine Ponds are also the only place you will find the Puchipetto (Opae‘ula)

3. オパエ‘ウラの寿命は？　自然の生息地や、適切に設計、管理された環境では２０年生きます。我が社 OH MY OPAE(略称OMO)では生息地からの材料を使用し、自然環境を再現しています。

4. 飼育は簡単ですか？　最も大切なことは間接的な日光や蛍光灯の下で飼育することです。最適水温は18℃から29℃です。水が蒸発してきたらその分だけ蒸留水を補充してください。食糧は必要ありません。空気ポンプも不要です。ケアーフリーのペットです。容器の内側が汚れてきたら綿棒などでふき取ってください。冬季は暖かく保つために容器の周りをタオルでカバーして下さい。暗くてもエビに害はありません。

Are they easy to care for? Yes, OMO use materials to replicates their natural habitat. Important factor is where it is placed in a room and Temperature. Optimal temperature 18C – 29C. In-direct sunlight and FLUORESCENT lighting is best. Replace any evaporation with Distilled Water. NO FEEDING – NO AIR PUMP – NO ORGANIC WASTE - TOTALLY CAREFREE!!!

5. オパエ‘ウラの生態系は？　OMOは特別に用意された汽水を使用しています。エビの排泄物からはバクテリアや藻類が生成され、エビは藻を食べます。また、藻は酸素を放出し、間接日光や蛍光灯は藻の成長を助けます。いわば、自給自足の生活と言えます。
